Kevin Roque is best known for his highly intricate pencil drawings with an immense level of realism. His works have dark undertones and are atmospheric in nature which conveys a sense of mystery and nostalgia. Self-taught, he developed his surreal imagery by combining techniques he learned in graphic design, collage, and photography. Later in his works, Kevin devoted himself to the creation of more poetic visual storytelling by carefully constructing personal observations of his immediate surroundings.
His artworks are greatly influenced by his peers in Malate Literary Folio (MLF), an organization of creatives who excel in the field of art, photography, poetry and prose. His affiliation to the group also piqued his interest in the pop culture of manga, as well as books under the theme of magic realism.
He is currently an active member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK) and has since then participated in group exhibitions with fellow accomplished illustrators. He has also joined a number of group shows in our local galleries such as Ayala Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Manila and Prism Gallery.
